Your motherboard has four DIMM slots. Currently, only one slot (DIMM A 2) is filled with a 16GB Corsair vengeance 3000mhz stick. You're considering a dual-channel setup and are searching for another 16GB stick, which is more costly than buying two 8GB sticks (one in each of DIMM B slots). You're wondering if using a 16GB stick in the last slot (DIMM B 2) will deliver similar performance to having two 8GB sticks—one in DIMM B 1 and another in DIMM B 2. Looking forward to your feedback! (You might want to note that MSI may use non-standard names for these slots.)

You won't achieve identical results, but the variation lies in the small percentage figures.

The 1x16GB option may not perform better than the 2x8GB setup if your intent was different.

It clearly states this on the image you provided: Simply moving RAM modules doesn’t bypass the need for dual-channel configuration; you’ll still require a second RAM stick to achieve that.

I already have a 16GB module in DIMMA2, but I need more RAM.

You currently have 16GB and wish to switch to dual-channel. You can purchase one 8GB stick and install it at the B2 location, which will provide you with 16GB of dual-channel and 8GB of single-channel memory. Since most games don’t exceed 10GB of RAM, this setup should work perfectly.

It's better to use identical RAM modules in the slots, ideally dual-channel. A setup with 8+8+16 is not ideal. Consider selling the 16GB and purchasing two 2*8GB units or two 16GB modules.

I also like it, though the price gap between 2x8 and 1x16 is around 60€

Choose the single 16GB option. Overclocking beyond XMP will be challenging given the diverse range of Corsair DRAM suppliers, but it will be advantageous since you'll get two free DIMM slots instead of one.
