Hello, your recent upgrade seems to have caused some issues with the startup process. The computer appears on the motherboard screen for a short period before booting normally, which is frustrating. It’s also noted that you can’t access the BIOS or reset settings, and pressing the correct button doesn’t respond. Could there be a problem with the new graphics card or its connection? It might help to check the power connections and ensure the card is properly seated.

What kind of motherboard do you have? You might find a reset button on the board, or you can short the jumpers. Alternatively, removing the watch battery for a few seconds will also reset the BIOS.

I have a gigabyte h77m-d3h, an older model. I'm attempting to remove the watch battery to test its functionality. Let's find out if it works. Thanks.
Processor: i5 3450s GTX740 SSC EVGA 8GB DDR3
Storage: Crucial SDD 250GB + HDD 500GB

Struggled locating the battery. Once discovered beneath my GPU, I had to remove it from the PC to access it properly. After reinstalling and restarting, I’m still stuck with a black screen. It seems the issue could be related to the SSD.

Your chipset includes built-in graphics as well; verify the port you're using for the monitor on your motherboard or GPU port. If you've set up the GT740, connect the monitor cable to its designated port instead of the motherboard port.

I understand the situation clearly. I attempted to reinstall the old GPU and it functioned properly, suggesting the GT740 might be defective or incompatible. I’m unsure what steps to take next. A BIOS update seems like the only option I’ve considered. I didn’t realize it would still be stuck on the motherboard screen for two minutes even after booting into Windows with the GT740. Thanks for your response!
