Hello, I recently installed a new CPU, motherboard, cooler, and power supply. Initially, the system ran smoothly for about an hour, but then it completely froze. After that, it froze intermittently in smaller bursts and now only passes the BIOS load before freezing again. Currently, it will attempt to boot from a USB installation screen but freezes after 5 to 20 seconds. So far, I've updated the motherboard BIOS, removed all but one RAM stick, unseated the CPU cooler, reattached it, swapped out custom cable mod PSU cables for standard ones, and removed every non-essential USB, SATA, and PCI component. Despite these changes, nothing has improved. What should I do next? Remove the CPU, place it back in, then remove the CMOS battery. Unplug the PC, turn off the power, and restart. Try again.

It seems there might be a thermal concern with the CPU. Did you apply fresh thermal paste during the cooler installation?

At first, I kept the plastic cover on. Recently, I removed the CPU cooler again and added some extra thermal paste this time just to be safe. I’m hoping that would help.

Remove the CPU completely and take out the most battery. Press the power button, then reassemble everything. Restart the BIOS to reset the boot sequence to the original settings.

It explains what the battery does to address the real issue, though I’m not entirely sure.

Have you checked if relocating or changing the RAM slots worked?
