Device powers up yet screen remains inactive.
I received a new 3700x processor this Christmas (thanks, Santa). My motherboard was an ASUS ROG X470-i. I was using it with a 2600x and thought upgrading would be easy once the BIOS updated. But it didn’t show up on the screen. I’ve tried resetting the CMOS by shorting the CTR pin, and I’ve checked everything I could. Do you have any advice?
I noticed the issue is upgrading with a new model, which I think is the main concern. There’s also a secondary problem: it doesn’t allow me to power it on using the 2600x in the socket. I’ve already tested both options.
Whiro suggested retrying using the older CPU. Occasionally on a board, I needed to remove the battery and fully discharge it so the CMOS could reset correctly.
Could the connection to the power button be damaged or disconnected from the motherboard?
