Device powers off unexpectedly.
Hi everyone, I own a high-end gaming PC that's been running smoothly for about a year and two. Recently, it has shut down unexpectedly, especially during games. The shutdown is total—lights are off and it won’t restart. I’m trying to figure out what might be causing this. I’m keeping an eye on temperatures, which seem normal. I’m guessing the power supply unit could be the issue since my machine uses a lot of power. Do you have any tips? How can I monitor power usage or capture error logs before it crashes? System details: AS Rock OC Forumla Radeon 6900XT, 9 RGB fans, 4x RGB 8GB G.Skill Trident RAM, AMD 5600X, Corsair RMx Series RM1000 PSU.
Your CPU and GPU together use under 550W, which isn’t much of a power drain. Still, I’d skip labeling it a heavy consumer. You didn’t mention the case details, temperatures, or the specific power supply you’re using. A weak 1000W might not be as bad as a strong 500W. What does Event Viewer display?
Hello, thanks for reaching out. Your temperatures aren’t looking bad, but your CPU usage is very high during Rainbow 6 even though the room temps are around 65°C. The GPU is also running at a high level, and the case is well-ventilated with nine fans. Your PSU seems solid, possibly a good-quality Corsair model from 2017. Using CableMod sleeved cables might be contributing to the issue. You mentioned two shutdowns recently—could be related to the cables or other factors. Let me know if you’d like some advice on troubleshooting.
