I recently upgraded my GPU to a 3060 Ti and CPU to a Ryzen 7 5800X. During a GPU benchmark, my computer suddenly shut down as it began, with the GPU at about 45°C. Could the PSU be the problem? Is it safe to restart it? CPU model: Ryzen 7 5800X GPU: 3060 Ti Motherboard: MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max PSU: MIPC MI-8775C 750W RAM: 16GB
Check the internet and your PSU is labeled as a gaming PSU. I’m not confident about it, so opt for a reputable brand.
The PSU's total 12V output is labeled as 576W, but the power needed for the 3.3 and 5V rails to reach 750W suggests it's outdated or underperforming. Its efficiency of 67.4% is quite low for such a rating, indicating poor conversion. A modern doorstop PSU with an 80+ certification would be a better choice. Which country are you from?
Many times the unbranded PSU names are just about local living in a tiny remote area, offering choices like $60 or a well-known brand for a scalper-style profit margin. This 750W Corsair model isn’t a premium piece and won’t overheat its parts.
