It seems the system keeps restarting unexpectedly. I assumed it was my GPU since the cooling wasn’t working and temperatures were high, but it’s actually something else. After fixing the GPU, temps returned to normal. Now I’m confused because my computer restarts itself without warning, and all temperatures look okay. The motherboard is ROG Strix z490-E Gaming, with an i9-10900F CPU, 32GB RAM, and a 3080 GPU. The power supply is an EVGA Gold 1000W unit. Checking Event Viewer showed a shutdown event with ID 41, linked to the power supply. Is the 1000W enough for this situation?
It seems a thermal reset might be happening because of overheating, or your motherboard could be failing. 145F isn't a cause for concern. Since you didn't provide your motherboard details, it's likely the issue lies with the components on a low-cost board if you're using high-end parts. I recommend these steps: 1. Restart everything at default settings. 2. Place an intake fan directly over the motherboard parts. 3. If neither resolves the problem, swap the motherboard.

Evga won't provide you with another PSU model. You'll receive the same one as a replacement, most likely. … If that's the case, you might consider selling it to obtain something like a Corsair HXM. Alternatively, you could request a refund since it's clearly unsuitable for its intended use rather than using an RMA. (That's what I'd do.) In fact, according to EVGA, the issue has been resolved. I've already swapped in the PSU with a ROG Strix 1200w, which should work just fine based on my research. I'm checking what I can achieve with this EVGA PSU. So far, there haven't been any problems where the computer shuts down. I'll definitely come back here to update you if it does shut down again. Thanks for your assistance! I do have another minor problem, though. Occasionally, when I turn on my computer, a small white light stays lit on the upper right side of the motherboard. I investigated this and found it might signal a GPU issue, but I'm not familiar with all the details. Everything seems normal and the light disappears quickly after a restart, changing from red to yellow, then white and finally green before turning off. It doesn't seem to come back on. As I mentioned, it appears to turn on randomly when I start my system. Should I worry? Could the old EVGA PSU have affected my GPU somehow? Since I'm still within the RMA window for my GPU, would anyone could offer some guidance? Your help means a lot and really helped a lot.
