Device overheats and is confused about where to share it.
Hello, today I was playing some games and noticed that after switching tabs to check Discord, my screen kept showing parts of the game interface, almost like a CRT burn-in effect. Since my monitor is new, I assume it’s not the issue there. I’ve also observed that my GPU consistently reaches about 50°C, but the fans don’t activate even when I force them in MSI Afterburner. The only time they do is when I boot up during BIOS. My CPU temperatures are around the mid to high 60°C range. Could you help me figure out what’s going on?
Several GPUs have a setting that activates fans only when temperatures hit a specific level. Mine doesn't start fans until it's above 55°C. Your GPU is functioning properly. As long as you're not idle at 70°C or higher, your CPU is fine. Conclusion: everything is working correctly and within expected limits. If you need more precision, adjust manual fan curves.
Typically it only works when under stress, but keeping the display on for more than three seconds made me nervous
Temperatures were generally okay. The windows might have made a mistake.
the interface appears to remain visible over another application or stays active regardless of other elements on the screen. the radeon settings tool leaves a faint trace above it, but clicking the window removes it. regarding your fans, if they aren’t spinning when you power them up and nothing happens, there may be an issue with the fan system—especially if forcing operation doesn’t yield results. you’ve tried swapping fans on a replacement card, which resolved the problem. both initially spun at startup but only one would turn unless speed reached about 80%, after which the other engaged. they didn’t spin as quickly as expected. after replacing the fans, everything functioned normally. some cards have bios configurations that influence fan behavior; adjusting these can help, though manually installed fans should operate correctly.
I’m not aware of any issues causing overlay effects. After a month with the card, nothing unusual has occurred. I own a 5500XT but don’t have similar settings in my Radeon configuration. I’ve replaced the card and re-seated it in the PCIe slot, and someone confirmed everything is working fine. If you want to adjust the fans, you’ll need to follow specific steps for your model—like the RX5500XT Sapphire 8 gig card.
I attempted that, but it didn’t work. The Temp. Limit is unavailable in my version.
