I own an HP Probook 450 g8 equipped with i7-1165g7 and Iris Xe graphics. When the machine is idle it operates above the base speed and nearly reaches its maximum clock frequency, yet when I launch a game it slows down below the base rate. It’s not that it’s overheating, so the issue likely lies with the processor itself.

The 11th Gen G7 series are Intel's energy-efficient mobile chips. By default, they aren't built to run at full speed forever. It's typical for G7 CPUs to slow down due to power limits, which isn't caused by heat. You can try using ThrottleStop. Launch the TPL window and look at the MMIO Lock section in the upper-right corner. Share any ThrottleStop screenshots if you need guidance. Notably, Intel has removed voltage adjustments from the lower-end models in the FIVR window.
