Device operates continuously yet experiences unpredictable restarts followed by booting issues.
My computer has been shutting down and restarting unexpectedly. It seems to work fine during testing, but it struggles to boot again. I suspect the issue might be related to RAM or power supply unit. About two weeks ago, after replacing the CPU, RAM, and GPU, the problem stopped for a couple of weeks before resurfacing last night. A noticeable sign is a red light flashing near where the power connector connects to the GPU—possibly a PSU fault. I’ve updated all drivers and Windows, even upgraded to Windows 11, but the problem persists.
It seems you might not be getting sufficient power from the PSU. The red lights could indicate a wiring problem between the PSU and your GPU. Are there multiple cables connected together, or just one?
Model? Gold Rated only measures electrical efficiency, not overall quality. If you have a USB drive, run Memtest86: https://www.memtest86.com/download.htm, boot from it, and perform several tests to check for errors. This process might take hours, so consider that when planning. It's improbable the OP can handle heavy testing equipment, which would draw more power than the system uses. ^^^ Re-seat the cables as a basic troubleshooting step.
I'm going to reposition the cables on both the GPU and PSU. Once back home, I'll send a photo of the cables since I'm not entirely clear on daisy chaining. I'll also run memtest86 using a USB drive. Is this about checking data integrity? Also, should I check my RAM instead?
Referring to a previous article, the current setup is typical, but testing a different cable might resolve the issue.
