I assembled my new PC from Micro Center recently. I’m still within the 30-day return window. I uploaded the Windows 11 installer via integrated graphics, but the GPU isn’t connecting. The back panel shows a red LED indicating power, yet the fans aren’t running. I’ve tested multiple monitors using HDMI or DisplayPort, but nothing worked. I reattached the power cable on both ends, swapped the riser with and without it, and even used the 12-pin Gen 5 port on the PSU. The PCI slot is Gen 5, while the card and riser are Gen 4—this shouldn’t cause problems. I’m considering swapping in the 2080 graphics from another machine, though it would be a bit messy due to its attached AOI cooler.

No, I did not connect the external power to the GPU.

I linked the GPU to my power source via the 12-pin connector. The card has a red LED indicating it receives power correctly. This setup uses a 750-watt PSU, which appears sufficient.

I resolved the problem. Even though the red light was active on the GPU, it didn’t appear to be properly connected.
