Hello everyone, I've faced this issue for a while now, even after reinstalling Windows multiple times (possibly more than once). The problem occurs whenever I connect something via USB—specifically showing "Unknown USB Device" on the bottom right. Even after unplugging all connected devices and clearing Device Manager, it still appears. I usually remove it from Device Manager and it disappears temporarily, but sometimes it reappears unexpectedly, like when launching a game. I've tried everything without success. Note: After uninstalling via Device Manager and running a hardware check, the issue resurfaces. P.S., this topic was already posted a long time ago, so I wanted to start fresh. OS: Windows 10 Pro [build: 19045.2956]
PC Specs: Mobo: MSI Z170A PC MATE (MS-7071)
CPU: I7-6700
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GBx2 DDR4
Graphics: Rog Strix GTX 1080 Ti
Storage: Samsung SSD 850 PRO 128GB, M.2 Samsung 980 500GB
PSU: EVGA 700B

It might be related to software. Are you sure everything is current? You could also attempt reinstalling the USB drivers for your motherboard.

It's surprising they mentioned it: does this occur with every device? For instance, I’d disconnect things that use a lot of power like USB HDDs, yet items like mice and keyboards wouldn’t ever be disconnected.

My BIOS seems current, especially since the last update from MSI was installed. It’s pretty basic—just a mouse, keyboard, and headphones work fine. I wasn’t sure about the motherboard USB port, but everything functions properly.

There are numerous causes for a device descriptor failure. The message indicates that Windows cannot send the descriptor from the USB device, but the hub senses something is present. It may require only a 100 ohm pull-up resistor on one data line to activate detection. In essence, the issue likely stems from a missing +5V supply and a functional data line. Your port might have a ground connection or damaged one of the data lines, possibly with both lines shorted together or one connected to ground or +5V. Overall, the problem is probably physical, related to the port, cables, or hub.

Your statement appears reasonable; I’ll reorganize the details on my USB ports and provide a revised update.

I disconnected all USB devices, verified each connection, and the issue didn't appear. After two hours, I started a game and encountered the same error while loading. It seems one or possibly more USB ports might be faulty. If you have any suggestions on how to investigate or fix this, please share.
