I've had my Dell Inspiron 15 7559 laptop with a damaged screen for quite some time. It was connected via HDMI to a TV, but sometimes the signal failed during startup, leaving a blank screen without any error messages from the diagnostic LED. I realized the laptop was sending the signal through the faulty built-in screen instead of HDMI. To fix it, I removed the LCD connector from the motherboard so only HDMI remained active. It resolved the issue until I moved to another room where my TV was occupied. I then used a VGA monitor and an HDMI-to-VGA adapter since my laptop lacked a VGA port. Now, when I restart or boot while connected to the VGA monitor, it works—provided I connect it to the TV for proper startup. Please help me understand this better. Thanks!

I'm not sure if I can assist, but perhaps I can offer some guidance. VGA transmits an analog signal whereas HDMI is digital. Your laptop must convert the digital signal into analog for the VGA monitor to work. It looks like your BIOS isn't recognizing the analog display, which results in an error code when only the VGA monitor is present. You might temporarily replace the laptop's LCD to bypass the issue, but then you'll need to adjust the Windows settings to make the VGA monitor the main display and disable the faulty panel. Some laptops have FN keys that can handle this, or you may need to navigate to display settings manually.
