Yesterday my connection stopped working. I use cable internet with a modem/router from the local provider, named Technicolor. Usually when the internet fails I receive an alert from the company saying service is down in my area, but this time it didn’t happen. I unplugged and then plugged it back in. There are three green lights that are illuminated and highlighted. The DS light keeps flashing. Is this the problem? I don’t recall the lighting when my connection was stable, though I remember at least five should be on. Should this be a modem issue needing replacement, or could it be a wiring problem outside that needs repair? Earlier they replaced my modem/router, and once they fixed the external wires, this time I’m unsure what to do with the device itself.

If the item comes from them, they should address the issue. Although it might seem dull, the most effective way is to reach out to their support team and adhere to their straightforward guidance until they choose to replace it with a new unit, an engineer, or both.

Based on your description, it seems the most probable cause relates to the recent wiring or hardware changes you mentioned. The fact that the DS light is flashing suggests an ongoing issue with the connection, possibly due to improper installation or interference. Replacing the modem or providing a new one could resolve the problem without needing a technician visit.

Would clearing the modem help? It seems there should be a reset switch inside. The modem does look colorful!

The reset buttons are typically located on the back. A paperclip might be needed to push them in. It's safe to attempt. Otherwise, you should reach out to your ISP.

Yes, you might need to reconfigure the modem again, similar to what happened when the technician initially installed it.

Technicolor CGA4233TLV2 is the model reference. After briefly disconnecting and reconnecting the modem, all six green indicators lit up. Eventually it returns to its normal state. The solid green light pulses every two seconds. In the US, there’s no internet signal detected in this line. I suspect the initial flashing might correspond to the power line. I remember when the connection was stable, several green lights would illuminate. When Wi-Fi appears, it shows up but doesn’t display a connection. The issue seems linked to a small gap in the back of the modem, which I filled with a paperclip and noticed the lights reacted. My landline also provides internet; when the internet goes down, a distinct phone tone confirms its status before the green lights reappear.

This suggests the problem might be related to the wiring. There are no clear green lights or signals for the US, and no indication of a telephone line present.
