I built my RTX 3060 with an ASUS B450F II board and a 5600X CPU last year. It has worked fine until now. Recently, both monitors went dark at once, and the computer doesn’t recognize my GPU. The motherboard’s VGA indicator is lit even though the GPU lights are on. I took out the GPU to check for connection problems, but nothing changed. Could any issue be causing this behavior?

I would examine power connectors first, but typically my initial concern would be a dead GPU or power supply. If possible, check the card in another system and/or test another GPU in your main setup to see if it functions. You can also try resetting CMOS or swapping memory. I've noticed this on my X570 Master—when memory overclocking becomes unstable, it might fail to POST with a GPU error code and light up the "VGA" LED even though the card works fine. It could be similar if your RAM starts failing.

I don’t have another GPU, but I can take it to a friend’s computer to test it. If that doesn’t work, I’ll reset the CMOS and run a basic bench test using just the CPU, GPU, and board.

I'll start with the Clear CMOS first—it doesn't need moving the system and takes about two minutes. I'm not sure it will work, but it's much faster than shipping your GPU to someone else. Please let us know so we can notify you.

Additionally, having specifications would assist in identifying any unforeseen problems. Were there recent updates, such as a BIOS change? Is there a new component introduced?

Recent performance remains stable with consistent daily use. Hardware details include ASUS graphics cards, Ryzen processors, and various storage solutions. Connected devices consist of a few Wi-Fi adapters sourced from Amazon.

It's possible the PCIe power supply for the GPU is faltering. Alternatively, I've encountered an odd problem during startup where no video appears. I'm focusing on either the cable or the HDMI connection on the GPU. You might want to disconnect and reattach the output cable, or try a different one.
