Device Manager detects GPU but it isn't sending any signal.
Hey everyone, my friend and I are facing a tricky situation. We attempted to assemble a PC from spare components and thought the motherboard was faulty. After navigating several challenges to obtain a new one, we managed to get it running, but the GPU isn’t connecting properly. We’re using the HDMI port on the GPU as our monitor since the display doesn’t support DVI.
Here’s what we observe:
- The GPU functions correctly with another PC via HDMI, so it’s not a hardware issue there.
- When we enable integrated graphics, the system works perfectly.
- If we switch to using the GPU directly, it appears in Device Manager.
- We’re running a fresh Windows 10 installation with updated drivers.
The curious part is that the GPU seems operational but isn’t producing any signal output. Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Here you are, no obligation to express gratitude.

The issue is that the PC doesn’t receive any signal. I moved the GPU to my personal desktop, where it functions properly (eliminating cable or port problems). Apologies if this wasn’t explained clearly.
You need to test another GPU on the friend's computer to eliminate the PCi-E port as the issue.
It sounds like you're checking for compatibility concerns. Just to confirm, you mentioned having an RTX 2080 and wondering if there might be an issue?
