I possess a Ryzen 9 7900X, ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F for gaming, G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-6400 BK C32 DC - 32GB, MSI Ventus 3X 3080, Seasonic Prime PX 1000 PSU, that unexpectedly began behaving oddly. Before this, I experienced problems with the PSU and during my troubleshooting I also replaced the motherboard, assuming it was the cause initially. After installing the new components, everything functioned normally. However, yesterday the keyboard stopped responding, so I restarted the system. But the BIOS failed to boot, displaying an error about the 8-pin ATX connector not being connected, even though both connectors were plugged in. I reattached all power cables on both sides (PSU and motherboard), reinserted the CPU, yet the issue continued. The BIOS also couldn't load because it couldn't locate a boot option, despite the NVMe drive (Samsung 980 Pro) being detected. The keyboard remains unresponsive, though it shows up in POST. I've attached the error message for reference. The problem arose after I attempted to clear CMOS, and I updated the BIOS using the flashback feature since the keyboard wouldn't work in BIOS mode with the USB drive connected. The BIOS was also updated to the latest version. Anyone have any advice on what might be causing this? For context, earlier troubleshooting included extensive RAM testing, which showed no faults. Initially, I thought the motherboard was faulty and submitted it for RMA, receiving a replacement. While waiting, I temporarily kept my old board and CPU in the system to test. Upon returning it, I found identical issues appeared, leading me to suspect the power supply. Installing the new PSU resolved everything. The system was operating smoothly until today’s strange error.
