Hey everyone, I'm currently using a Pixel Experience ROM (AOSP) on a Meizu 16X running Android 11. I really enjoy it, but I'm facing a puzzling issue: my camera gets activated unexpectedly. Whether I'm chatting online or just hanging out with friends, the camera freezes after a while. I'm trying to figure out which app is causing this, but I don’t know how to identify it. I’ve tried blocking most apps that I don’t use, set user apps to “Ask every time,” and used XPrivacy to restrict certain system apps. Still, the problem persists. Interestingly, opening and closing the native camera app restores access to the flashlight. Have anyone experienced this issue before?

I previously used a Google Pixel and remain skeptical of Google. The most effective step is to wrap the lens with electrical tape when it's not in use.

I enjoy the process of removing electrical tape from my camera each time I need to use it. This app appears to track camera activity chronologically and displays usage indicators, which could help confirm whether the device is actually being used or if there are issues with the flashlight being marked as active when it shouldn't be.

I noticed many recommendations, so I thought it was genuine.

I favor the Pixel rom over the stock Chinese ROM every day just because they built their own WebView v68 which is terrible in 2022. Imagine trying to reinvent the wheel—functioned for a short time, then stopped. No dots, no logging. It's unfortunate since it's one of the few apps that actually works.

It seems the app isn't doing much when it comes to system access.

The picture didn't load, but why would a system require camera access? Are you relying on Google Play Services?

The image comes from Access Dots and indicates that any system app or background access isn't recognized by the app since it only detects foreground activity. Notably, I'm using Google Play Services. It's worth mentioning that Android System Intelligence remained the only app with full camera access. I don't understand why it had that capability or its practical value to me, but I'll keep trying. After blocking its camera permissions via XPrivacyLua and restarting, the flashlight problem disappeared. I plan to test Droidcam later this week to see if it still freezes as before.
