I played Fortnite smoothly, no lag or freezing, nothing unusual happened. Suddenly the system shut down completely. After rebooting it, there was still no response. When everything powered up—RAM, RGB fans, GPU fans were all active—it wouldn’t display anything. No beep sounds either. I checked the HDMI cable connections, tried different ports, and even swapped out the power outlet. Still nothing. I attempted to use the built-in graphics card with and without the GPU installed, but no output. The onboard diagnostics didn’t show any error codes. I also verified the speaker was properly seated. I’m listing my parts: a Gigabyte B550 Gaming X CPU, R5 5600G processor, Gigabyte P850GM power supply, AMD RX 6600 XT graphics card (dual 8GB), 4x 16GB C16 Corsair Vengeance RGB RGB lighting. I looked through previous posts and noticed the standard beep for normal operation is a single short tone—something I’d heard many times before this happened when starting up. The manual doesn’t list those codes. I’ll add the speaker I’m using now and share a video of the setup. I’m not sure what else to check. Tonight I decided to power it down completely.

Remove the power cable and gently press the start button several times before reattaching it. If that doesn’t work, try pressing the start button as well. Also, check if you can replug in the 24-pin PSU cable from the motherboard. If nothing works, begin dismantling one component at a time—start with just one RAM stick, test all slots, remove the graphics card, and see if the PC boots. Continue this process, restoring each part one by one, until it starts properly.

This unit is famous for causing explosions and damaging other parts. I’d completely discard it regardless of the issue. If there’s no indication of overheating (like a beep), then likely the CPU power delivery, CPU, or motherboard is faulty.

I wasn’t aware of that issue with the PSU... I’ll give it a shot based on what aledsav1 recommends. Taking out the power cables from both the CPU and MOBO seems like a good idea.

It seems like these issues might be linked to something else. I've dealt with many faulty GPUs, especially during upgrades from mining farms, and there are often a lot of defective ones. A common sign of a non-booting or non-posting PC is a bad GPU—if the card has a short, the PSU won’t power it at all, or it might power on but then fail to boot further. If the problem lies with the PSU, it could have caused everything to stop.

I recommend starting with a basic check to ensure the PC boots, then proceed to test other components.

I attempted it before, it didn't help. I'll continue trying.

Consider another power supply unit. I had two of the three Gigabyte P850GM models and they stopped working, so I returned them.

I’m back after the holidays with an update. I switched the PSU but it didn’t work, so I checked another one too—still no luck. Then I tried changing the mobos, and it looks like the CPU was the issue because it killed the working one. Thanks for all the help!
