First step would be to turn off the Windows firewall on the impacted devices and check connectivity. If access is granted, enable file and printer sharing via the firewall.

It didn’t appear to change much. It’s odd since I managed to use it as a media tool somehow, and the firewall and other settings seemed to work for sharing files, yet I still couldn’t get through.

You seem to be confused about the setup. The post mentions a USB drive connected to a router, while the question refers to another folder on a computer. Identify which one is relevant—check the USB connection details and compare them with the folder structure on the affected machine.

I attempted to connect the laptop to the router, but it didn’t work. The main computer with the USB drive remains wired, so I’ll investigate that next.

Ugh... The mission is complete. It seems the group configurations varied between devices, but I just configured them identically as "home network" and kept the workgroup name unchanged before rebooting my main computer. It works perfectly on my laptop. Appreciate it!

This was indeed my second recommendation—public versus private networks. Thank you for getting it resolved.

You're welcome on the right track. I'd be happy to help with setting up the shared folder or network drive for your Steam games. Do you have any prior experience with this setup?
