Hi! I assembled my PC inside a midtower ATX chassis because the 3070ti didn’t fit well in the Fractal Meshify with AIO. I also upgraded the power supply to it. Recently, I’ve noticed some unusual behavior from the PSU—when I run demanding games or applications, it often shuts down after about 15-20 minutes. Could this be related to my case or insufficient cooling? Below you’ll find a DIY repair attempt, though I’m not sure if temperature issues are the main problem. It still crashes occasionally when I add extra fans, but usually takes longer. My specs are: Ryzen 9 5950x, Asus RTX3070ti TUF, OC, Asus B550-F. Should I just upgrade to a case with better airflow? Thanks in advance.

The fan is positioned near the table to expel all the warm air.

You mean the power supply fan? It sucks air in and exhausts out the grill at the back. Are you using Corsair iCue to see information about the power supply? With the HXi it has an extra cable that plugs in to a motherboard internal USB header to allow it to read information about the PSU. Does it show anything abnormal, like high temperatures?

Does it function with the RMx line? I purchased a second-hand PSU, but the packaging listed as HX1000i while the actual unit is an RM1000x. I thought they were compatible.

It seems the buyer changed the power supply for some reason.

It seems unclear, as it wasn't bought from a private seller. Still, anything could work ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I discovered something interesting... It comes with a 10-year warranty from Corsair. Since all the PSU fans blow air outwards, this "fix" just pushes air against each other—some can be turned around, but not yours. Make sure your case has a solid base that draws air in from below into the PSU and sends it out behind it, along with a filter. No carpets allowed...
