Device halted at CPU indicator light
The system performed well initially at your location and at your friend's house. However, upon returning to your home after a move, the computer froze at the CPU LED without any display. Attempts to reset the BIOS failed. When you brought it back, it worked perfectly. No changes were made during transport. The issue reappeared the next day when trying to power it on again. It seems there might be a power or boot-related problem.
Did your friend verify if the problem extends to other areas of his home (possibly due to a faulty power outlet)?
I wasn't sure, I inquired with him about it, but he isn't a technical expert to verify it.
It's possible he managed to power on the PC since it functioned at your location. The PSU might have retained residual energy.
From your location outside the profile, his home should have a stable ground connection. If it’s missing or faulty, it may lead to unusual computer behavior since the EMI filter in the power supply depends on proper grounding to function correctly and release static charge.
I asked him to run the PC at his neighbor's house to rule out that chance because he believes the CPU is faulty. This suggests that if his home isn't properly grounded, it might lead to these problems? It was quite odd when we first turned on the computer at my place—it felt like the BIOS reset happened for the first time, even though the guy had been working on it for 3–4 days. The CMOS battery had also been out for several days.
He powered the computer without a CMOS battery, though it should start up without one. The BIOS settings won’t be saved. It seems the electrical connection in his home might be the problem, or there could be a broader power issue.
He attempted to reset the BIOS, initially assuming he modified the RAM or CPU settings, which prevented the system from starting. For me, it remains the most puzzling occurrence—PC appears to start but fails to boot correctly. The ASUS card features a logo in the center; this should illuminate in red, yet it remains white. There’s no visual breathing effect or color transition. I searched for any manual debug guides but didn’t find any. My hypothesis is that the device powers on but lacks sufficient resources to continue and initialize properly.
