Device frequently resets during rest phase
Hey everyone The past couple of days my computer has been acting up. This isn't something I've faced before—it began two days ago and I'm still trying to figure out a fix. The issue is that every time I put it into sleep mode, it wakes up automatically, and I don't know how to prevent it. When I run the command prompt with powercfg -lastwake ; Wake History Count, I see this message: Wake Source Count - 1 Wake Source [0] Type: Device Instance Path: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A36D&SUBSYS_86941043&REV_10\3&11583659&0&A0 Friendly Name: Intel® USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.10 (Microsoft) Description: USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller Manufacturer: Generic USB xHCI Host Controller Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
reboot the computer, take off the mouse and keyboard, turn off alerts. give it a try, they might be causing a distraction
You’ve identified the issue clearly. The USB device is linked to your USB 3.1 controller. Disconnect it or adjust Device Manager settings to prevent it from activating the system. Based on your description, it seems the mouse is likely moving due to a wired connection that slightly interferes with its operation.
It would appear under the "Devices and Printers" section in Device Manager.
Check the Properties panel by double-clicking the device. Navigate to the "Power Management" section. If it’s missing, the issue likely lies elsewhere—such as on a connected device rather than the main unit. For instance, it won’t appear on the USB controller but may show up with another connected device.
Yes. The choices will vary a lot depending on the system setup. Every USB controller and hardware behaves differently, so you might need to experiment inside to find the right setting. This is why I can’t give you a precise answer without matching your hardware exactly.
It can relate to anything linked with that hub/controller and the controller itself. It might be your printer connected via USB, though we don't know for sure. Try investigating further. Another approach is to remove all USB devices and check if the issue disappears. If it does, test each device individually until the problem reappears. If it persists, the controller/hub is likely faulty and you should disable it.
