Device fails to start or shows issues with Win11 and GTX 760 graphics card.
Hello, I recently upgraded my PC and assisted a friend by selling him some components for minimal cost. He acquired parts from our local marketplace: power supply (silentiumPC Vero L1 600W), graphics card (MSI GTX 760), RAM (1x8GB Goodram IRDM), one SSD (Goodram IRDM, TOSHIBA HDD believed), and a CPU cooler (SilentiumPC fera 3 RGB). He also bought additional items from the marketplace such as a PSU (silentiumPC Vero L1 600W), GPU, RAM, and a case (some silentiumPC). He assembled it himself, so I’m uncertain about the cooler setup. The issue: the PC freezes intermittently after startup—lasting from a few seconds to up to 30 seconds—and then displays a black screen. It either restarts itself or remains stuck in black. I’ve tried several fixes: swapping GPUs (including a GTX 760 from my dad), changing RAM to Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz, disconnecting the HDD and switching to an SSD, and even removing the case to install Windows 11 from scratch. The unusual part happened when I connected the Ethernet cable after installing Windows updates; the screen briefly went black before returning to normal (possibly due to driver issues). After rebooting, it would enter a basic graphics adapter state for about 10–20 seconds before restarting again. Eventually, the problem worsened, and even the BIOS reset didn’t resolve it. Now Windows wouldn’t progress past the spinning dots screen, freezing completely. I’m unsure what’s causing this—could it be related to the GPU pairing, driver conflicts, or something else?
The 760 model faces issues on Windows 11 due to NVIDIA removing driver support.
Certainly, though I noted I attempted to set up my dad's GPU on a friend's machine and it didn't work. Dad's i5 4570 with the friend's GPU and Windows 10 functioned correctly. Dad's i5 4570 plus his own GPU and Windows 11 worked too. However, combining the 3700X with either the friend's or the friend's GPU and Windows 11 resulted in failures.
It might relate to the 3700x and GPU CBO on Windows 11 via TPM 2.0, possibly involving the motherboard as well.
I don't expect driver removal to cause issues; previous updates likely brought minimal changes for this model. This shouldn't lead to instability. TPM shouldn't interfere with GPU performance. I've dealt with similar concerns before—it's a major issue. Earlier, the system functioned without the driver because Windows treated it as a standard NVIDIA graphics card. The GPU might be faulty or not handle all features well when running as GTX 760. When the problem occurred, the PSU failed to supply power correctly, possibly due to higher initial power draw during startup compared to another setup. The PSU might shut down if it can't meet the requirements. Consider testing with a reliable PSU first.
