CPU: Ryzen 9 5900x Mobo: Aorus x570 elite Wi-Fi GPU; 3070 PSU: Corsair 1000w RAM: Corsair vengeance DDR4 3600mhz recently noticed some issues with my pc. I’ll start with saying this is a system I built 2+ years ago. It ran a lot of high end games with no struggle and still does (when it works) No overheating from it ever really, my AIO It’s run fine ever since and only have had problems in the last 6 months. At first it would sometimes crash randomly with random errors, but when pressing the power button nothing would happen. You’d have to cycle the PSU power switch for it to work again. As time went on it started crashing with SPECIFICALLY dpc watchdog errors, which would make it that even sometimes after pressing the psu power switch, the pc still wouldn’t post. You could still give it a minute and it would eventually post and boot, but even that stopped recently. Now it does the same not-posting thing constantly, and every now and then after a few hours of it being off it would boot, but immediately crash and freeze before even reaching login. I’ve tried resetting CMOS, trying the system with everything unplugged, trying the system with less ram. Any help is very much appreciated and if someone somehow fixes or diagnoses them I’ll be in their debt.
I swapped the CMOS battery and refreshed the BIOS. The main problem remains—I can't install any drivers since the system won't start.
When you mention not booting, are you seeing just a black screen or can you still access the BIOS? Have you experimented with swapping out the SSD or HDD to use as a boot drive, installing the operating system on another storage? Did you attempt disconnecting all components and then unplugging everything? Have you considered removing the case, placing the motherboard inside a box, and attempting to boot with only essential parts? Also, inspect the cables, USB ports, motherboard connections, or front panel connectors for any issues that could cause a short circuit. Finally, does your motherboard display the boot, CPU, GPU, or RAM error message? It's frustrating when mid-range boards no longer include this feature.
Have you cleared all RAM and replaced just one stick in slot B1? If successful, and you have two sticks, use B1 and B2 since they perform best with high-speed memory. If you have four sticks, avoid using all four; AM5 doesn’t handle it well. I had to build my own setup with just two DIMMS for optimal performance. Also, reset the CMOS fully and don’t turn on an XMP profile—it can cause the memory to reset every boot. XMP may also lead to stability problems on AM5, so consider setting timings manually in BIOS if needed. Remove any existing HDD, SSD, or M.2 drives to test them and confirm they’re functioning properly. If you can inspect all components carefully—especially the PSU—it might point to a MoBos problem. Look very closely (with a magnifying glass) for any damage like scratches, cracks, swollen capacitors, or faulty MOSFETs.
When I say not booting, it means the system will freeze while loading the windows. Occasionally I access BIOS and sometimes it crashes completely. There are times when it won’t display anything at all, just the RAM lights turn on but nothing appears. I’ve tried connecting it outside the case, but that didn’t help. I’ve verified cables, ports, and connections—no problems there. The motherboard appears intact, with no swollen capacitors. I’m not sure if the X570 Elite Wi-Fi has any error lights, though I ordered a debug speaker but don’t know how to connect it to the motherboard.
