Device fails to start during installation despite proper function when used separately.
Hello, I tried upgrading my RAM from the same model to a faster one, but now the system won’t boot at all. After replacing one stick, it worked temporarily, but when both are installed it fails completely. I’ve checked the connections and removed one module, yet it still doesn’t start. The return window is closed, so I’m looking for possible fixes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Check the specific CPU and motherboard model. Moving RAM to another slot can affect performance depending on compatibility.
It's an AMD Ryzen 3 2200G running on a Gigabyte B450M-DS3H motherboard. After switching RAM slots, the system started but displayed a static white-gray screen and became unresponsive. Restart attempts failed to get it running.
It could be. If the board is aiming for 3200mhz (the fastest stick), the other one will match that speed, which might not be ideal. Also, first and second generation Ryzens don’t have strong memory controllers, so it might just struggle with handling four sticks.
I installed the new RAM and it automatically detected it but ran slower than expected. I assumed it would work once it was set up, but to my surprise it won’t even boot when I use two sticks. However, it functions properly with a single stick. I’m considering your suggestion—please let me know if it resolves the issue. If not, I’ll be busy this weekend.
