The CMOS battery powers the microcontroller and is usually located on the motherboard or chip package. Shorting it might affect system functionality.

The CMOS battery is the small silver cell on your motherboard, marked with a lightning icon. It’s located beneath your GPU on the left side. Replacing it will revert any BIOS modifications to their original factory state, without undoing previous BIOS versions.
