Device fails to recognize system components
I just got this laptop from a friend. He recently reset it, which means I still have to go through the installation steps. I placed a mouse in the 2.0 USB port and noticed it shows up as two mice in the BIOS, but my keyboard isn’t being detected at all. When I try to finish setting up Windows, the mouse disappears from view, preventing the process from continuing. It looks like something’s wrong with the hardware or the reset.
What kind of mouse are we dealing with? I’ve noticed peripherals, especially gaming models with macro features, appearing in the BIOS as several devices. If it’s very basic or from a discount bin, this shouldn’t be an issue, but items like the G502 or K70 could be involved. Have you tested using different USB ports? Sometimes a dead port can cause similar problems, so swapping them might help.
Tested on every USB port. Really unsure if it functions at all. Regarding the mouse, should I purchase a different one to try? I've never encountered this problem before, which is confusing. The device illuminates until it reaches the window screen, after which it stops working.
You could switch to another mouse; it shouldn’t cause any harm. I’m not sure it’s the issue, but it might matter if it doesn’t function in Windows. I’d test the keyboard on a different operating system to check compatibility.
The only explanation for the mouse not functioning is a driver-related problem.
