When I press the power button, the PC starts and then shuts off immediately afterward. This happened unexpectedly last night. I’ve checked the RAM slots and the power cable, but everything seems fine. I left it overnight and when I turned it on this morning it worked for about an hour before suddenly stopping again. I tried resetting the CMOS battery, but that didn’t help either. I’m unsure if the motherboard, CPU, or power supply is damaged.

What model of PSU do you have? I suspect your PSU might be the issue. I've faced a similar situation before—once it powers on, it shuts off instantly. Just follow your instincts and avoid forcing it. From experience, if I'm correct and the PSU is faulty, you should protect your other gear.

I need to reach out to them directly since this PSU is already in my possession.

If you're knowledgeable, I'd attempt to reposition everything. The 24-pin power connector might have loosened, or the CPU power connector plug could be the issue. Also inspect the CPU fan header—there might be a faulty USB port causing shorts. I recall a similar situation from 2011 where moving the setup damaged the front panel USB slot, leading to intermittent power loss. If those steps don't work, the power supply is likely the problem. You could test it in another computer to pinpoint the fault. Hope this assists!

Unfortunately, there is more to the problem here. When I turn on the PC everything turns on, then right off instantly. I actually just tried another PSU and that still isnt it. I think my motherboard is fried or my CPU.

It seems like the new PSU didn't work, which could indicate a dead motherboard or a faulty CPU.

That sounds frustrating. I think it might be a brief, but I’m not there to witness it, so I can’t confirm. (Hey, just don’t want it to end up as your CPU or MOBO, haha)

You're unsure about the first step. If the PC wasn't in a non-environmental setting, corrosion might be a concern—this isn't something I've encountered before.
