Toshiba Satellite C55 (Brief Summary) Laptop freezing on BIOS splash even after USB boot Still accessing BIOS menu But freezing when using SSD or USB. Reset BIOS defaults didn’t help. HDD and memory info appear briefly in BIOS but are limited. Older model worked until recently. Stored it with an OS, set CMOS time/date manually, rebooted but stuck on splash. USB and SSD both freeze during boot. Any suggestions?

Based on what I've learned, a non-functional CMOS battery often causes startup problems. Since your battery is dead, I recommend swapping it out and attempting to boot again.

You're taking a chance! I haven't experienced such an issue before, though I've heard stories about CMOS batteries affecting PC startup.
