Hello, I'm having trouble figuring this out. I bought a larger CPU, the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, to replace my previous one. My motherboard is an MSI B850 GAMING PLUS WIFI with the latest BIOS version 1.A90. The PC won't turn on after I reset the CPU three times and double-check the pins. When I put in my old CPU, it worked fine. It's even warm to the touch, which is strange. Should I upgrade to a different motherboard or is this CPU still functional? I'm considering switching to an X870E but want advice from others.

The board needs to accommodate the 9950X3D, and you possess the newest BIOS. Would you like me to test the CPU on a different spare board, or should I send it to a friend for evaluation? Avoid purchasing a new board solely for testing the CPU.

Yes, both EPS 12V power connectors are connected to the motherboard via the PSU.

Both units require plugging in and sitting securely with a 1200W PSU sufficient.

That's interesting. I'd redo it like they recommended. Have you given it about ten minutes to confirm it's not just memory practice?

This refers to the most recent update, likely added recently to ensure functionality.

Held for 30 minutes each time, three times it wasn't displaying any activity. No light or anything.

Because you just purchased it, you're covered by the warranty. You can contact the reseller to have it checked and request a replacement or refund if needed.
