Hi. My 2015 Acer Aspire E5-572g has been functioning well until recently. About two weeks ago, it stopped working while playing YouTube. After restarting it, it would briefly power on but then shut down again. I've experienced three different scenarios: sometimes the power button works, the fan runs for a short time, and both the battery and power indicators light up, though it fails to boot. Eventually it turns off completely. After waiting and retrying, it started this time but displayed an error saying no boot drives were available. I suspected the SSD was missing, so I replaced it with a cheaper one and got the same issue. I then bought a new SSD from a budget seller and tried again—still the same problem.

I installed Windows afterward and everything worked until I powered off the laptop. The next day it repeated the same failure. After about half an hour of waiting and retrying roughly 20 to 30 times, it finally turned on. That was unexpected.

Once it booted, everything functioned normally until I shut it down. Restarting or putting it into sleep mode worked fine. Turning it off made it difficult to turn it back on. The battery and charging port seem to be in good condition. I've seen several discussions online—could the BIOS battery be the culprit?

In the meantime, I ordered a replacement BIOS battery from AliExpress that matches my laptop's model. It’s soldered onto the board, which means replacing it will be quite an undertaking. The cost is significant: shipping is around 50 euros, repair is 100 euros plus labor, and I paid 400 euros for it in 2015. I’m planning to try this myself to confirm if the issue is indeed the BIOS battery.
