Hi everyone, my system built last night isn't starting up properly. The motherboard lights come on, but the power button doesn't work. Connected to the monitor via HDMI – double-checked the F panel connection and everything looks good. It has a Gen 1 USB 3.2 port and is plugged in correctly. I've attached the parts list. There was a mistake with the AM4 slot retention system. I dropped my CPU into the slot, bolted the heat sink on top, thinking AMD had made those clips unnecessary. I haven't put together a PC since the Intel quad era and assembled it in dim light. The retention clip at the bottom must be opened, the CPU needs to be placed in the slot, then the arm should lock it securely. Thanks for your help! Looking forward to the next update in the comments—I think I resolved that one too. Edited July 5, 2022 by Alex.Pawelczyk Fixed issue

No, not every single power cable is connected.

No, I haven't used a 5000 series BIOS yet.

Mobo arrived with a ready-to-use plug-and-play setup for the 5000 series. Eight pins at 12V connect to the motherboard, while eight pins and six pins link to the graphics card.

It's possible, though your system might be quite new and your motherboard could lack the newest BIOS.

Have you attempted activating it without pressing the power button? There are a few methods through Google available. It's not a very recent technique.

I'll give it another shot once I'm back. Thanks for the update. It wasn't clear if this was feasible, but I'll search for a solution tonight. My coworker mentioned the LEDs on the motherboard might signal a problem—there were amber lights when I powered it up. I'll inspect it more closely and confirm everything is connected correctly when I get home.

The setup varies by board, sometimes just serving as illumination. My motherboard even includes orange LEDs... for some unexplained reason. Your system is quite simple and I suspect it lacks built-in error reporting. You could purchase an external button that connects to the motherboard leads for about $8. I’d choose one if convenient, but timing matters a lot.

Searching for a schematic of the power switch pin positions. Planning to connect ground using a screwdriver. Located an online diagram recently. Updated July 4, 2022 by Alex.Pawelczyk.
