I have an outdated HP Pavilion P-6 from 2020 with a Pentium G620 processor and GeForce 210 graphics. It hasn’t been turned on since 2014 or 2015. After plugging it in on January 2nd, 2024, it started working. I looked through old photos, then turned it off. After a few days, it rebooted but still didn’t show any output from the monitor or keyboard. Later it worked again, though now it doesn’t emit any signals at all. I’m considering rebuilding it with a new setup—5600G, AM4 motherboard, two 8GB DDR4 RAM sticks—and using an old case and PSU. The PSU looks fine, but it’s stored in a plastic bag. Is it safe to use this old PSU?
if the PSU died and is causing this system to not turn on, then no. do you have a way of testing that?
