It's frustrating having to turn off my computer repeatedly each day when I'd rather let it shut down automatically. No matter if I press the keyboard shortcut or click sleep in the start menu, the screen just turns black briefly and restarts me as if it had truly powered off, without any real quiet time. I've run various commands in cmd like "powercfg -requests" and "powercfg -lastwake," but both returned "none." This issue seems to be with Windows 7.

Have you experimented with sleep aids? (Yes, I have) Which operating system are you using? What type of motherboard? And what case are you using?

I faced the same issue too; I resolved it by removing the USB audio card.

Usually it’s because Wake-on-LAN is enabled, or a USB device isn’t sleeping correctly, causing the wake-on-USB feature to activate.

In Device Manager, turn off "allow this device to wake the computer" for both your network adapter and mouse. Since even a small movement can trigger the wake-up, you may need to rely on your keyboard—typically using the spacebar.

All my gadgets have been verified to prevent the PC from waking up. When you say "wake on LAN," it refers to your network card. That’s confirmed and doesn’t appear to be the issue.

It's a feature called Wake on LAN that allows devices like Nvidia Shield to power on your computer. You can adjust the settings both on your PC and your router.

You can check your PC for this option in the device manager or by searching for "Opetion" in the Windows search bar. It might also be available under system settings or advanced options depending on your OS version. Since you recently upgraded hardware, it could be linked to storage configuration tools.

Have you checked if all your device drivers are installed? I’m not checking general device status, just whether the manufacturer’s drivers are present. If needed, locate the appropriate graphics driver and install it from either the laptop maker or the chip supplier to see if that fixes the sleep issue. Thanks!
