I disabled the second USB port on my laptop and the mouse stopped working. I reinstalled the drivers and BIOS, checked various YouTube guides, but there’s no solution yet. The issue seems unresolved.

If your usb is shorted that means its damaged and you cant use it sorry, but i have good news for you, you can buy usb hub and connect it to your laptop's working usb port, they cost affordable prices, and your usb port list will increase

it hasn’t been shorted many times, but I’ve used it as a power source for a 5V and both ports stopped working after that issue, especially with mice. It connects keyboards and phones fine, but the mice don’t function. I suspect a driver problem, though I can’t locate a compatible one.
