Recently I moved to Fido's 150 mb plan and changed several modems, ending up with the coda-4582u. So far, the connection has been mostly reliable, though I still experience occasional instability. The biggest problem I've noticed is during online games: sometimes my internet slows down so much that I can hear my friends in Discord, see other players moving around, but I can't control my character, and my friends can't hear me talk in Discord. When I close the game, the issue disappears quickly. Restarting the game also helps, though it happens about once every couple of days. Switching between 5G and 2.4G networks during these moments causes my PC to freeze for 10–20 seconds before reconnecting, sometimes even failing to connect altogether. This affects my whole house—my phone can't access the internet during those times either. I've contacted tech support, who say they don’t see any problems, but it’s unclear what’s causing this. My computer uses a USB Wi-Fi adapter (Amazon link provided), and it follows DNS settings from 1.1.1.1. I’m planning to try another USB Wi-Fi adapter later, but it’s currently on its way. I also can’t connect via Ethernet because the powerline adapter reduces my download speed significantly compared to Wi-Fi.
USB Wi-Fi adapters are outdated. It's better to use a proper PCI-E card.
