Hello, two years ago I assembled a desktop for my sister to use at school. After her summer break, the USB ports on her machine stopped working (mouse, keyboard, etc.) even in the BIOS. Early troubleshooting suggested the motherboard might be the issue. I ordered a replacement from Amazon and installed it the next day. The system powered on, fans started, then stopped again. I thought it was a power cut, so I flipped the power switch and tried again—still no result. Eventually, I noticed the PSU was overheating when powered without turning on the PC. It seemed connected to the case, which had raised edges instead of standoffs. I swapped in a new motherboard from Amazon and got it to boot, fans ran but didn’t spin. After turning it off and back on, nothing changed. I suspected the PSU was faulty. Testing confirmed correct voltages. I’m puzzled—CPU tests passed, RAM, PCIe card, and NVMe drive all worked. Has anyone else faced this problem? Any clues about why the chipset overheated? Also, note the CPU still functions in the original slot, but USB ports are missing. (PS2 works fine.)

Original setup: Gigabyte B560M DS3H I5 10.4GHz, CX450 MSI ax905c, Wi-Fi card SN550, WD Blue SSD 3200MHz DDR4, 2x 8GB RAM.

Replacement parts: B560M-A ASUS motherboard, Seasoning focus 550 PSU.
