Device does not show any output when connected via USB-C dock once it powers down.
Display: Gigabyte G34WQC (connected with DisplayPort 1.4) Dock: Anker PowerExpand 13-In-1 USB-C Docking Station Laptop: Asus ROG Zephyrus G15 GA503QR (Nvidia RTX 3070 Laptop) I haven't had many issues with this setup overall, but one rather annoying one is that after the laptop and monitor go to sleep, I'm not able to get any display output through the monitor without restarting the monitor and USB-C dock and unplugging my Type-C connector. The laptop dock itself is still operating fine, as my connected USB devices still work and it delivers power to the laptop, but the monitor indicates that it doesn't see any display signal until I restart the dock and monitor. The procedure that I've figured out that works when this happens is: -Shut down the monitor and USB-C dock -Unplug the USB-C cable -Plug in the USB-C cable -Power on the dock - wait for the light to go green, then blue, then green again, then blue again (green = power on, no laptop connected. Blue = power on, laptop connected) -Power on the monitor If anyone has a suggestion to fix this, it would be very helpful, as it's pretty frustrating to deal with this when I'd like to just start my laptop back up from sleep and go. I'm not sure if this is some weird behavior in the laptop, dock, DP cable, or monitor. Sidenote: Interestingly, some people online have reported flickering and other issues with this monitor model - it's certainly a budget model (given that it was around half the price of comparably specced monitors), but I've actually had a good experience with it. The built in speakers and DAC are trash, its power supply makes a faint whining noise while active, and the included stand is a joke, but I haven't experienced any display quality issues overall. I would not be surprised if the QC was not great and I just got a good one though.
Hello, I'm here to assist. For the monitor:
- Is it running the latest software update?
- Have you attempted a factory reset?
- Did you use a non-eco sleep mode? Some monitors support sleep+eco for deeper shutdowns; opt for the less eco setting if available
- Can you disable the auto switch feature?
For the dock/laptop:
- Is the laptop updated with the latest firmware?
- Have you tested another USB cable just in case?
- Open Device Manager → USB devices → Dock station (and any connected root devices) → Power management → Uncheck "Allow PC to put this device to sleep"
Great suggestions, I’ll definitely give it another shot. -Based on what I understand, updating this monitor isn’t possible. There’s no firmware listed on the Gigabyte site, and the settings don’t support firmware installation (no internet or USB ports means you’d need a wired connection via Ethernet or HDMI). -I don’t see an eco sleep setting, but I’ve disabled auto switch. -I think testing another cable might help: for DisplayPort I’m using a low-quality one, and for USB-C the included one rated for USB3.2 and 100W. The “Allow PC to put this device to sleep” feature is useful – it’s set up so the fingerprint sensor turns off automatically, which means you can’t unlock with it. I wish I’d chosen a better dock; I still use the charger, so power isn’t helping. Well done for the advice, I’ll give it a try and hope it works!
