I recently switched to 5G internet and am using a TP-link Archer TX20U wireless USB adapter (https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networki...x20u-plus/) to link my computer to the WiFi network. It functioned perfectly for about a month, but now it occasionally disconnects unexpectedly. It also fails to detect any WiFi networks until I remove and reinsert it. Other devices still connect successfully, indicating the issue isn’t with those. I’ve verified the Windows power settings and updated the drivers to the latest version from TP-link, yet the problem persists. Is there anything further you could attempt, or is this adapter faulty?

Might connect to the Ryzen 5000 and 3000 USB dropout problem. Occurs more frequently with USB storage devices in use.

It's accurate, I've faced issues with my external HDD. The best solution so far has been using the USB hub connected through my keyboard. I'm planning to upgrade the BIOS on my motherboard to check if that resolves the issue.

For me, BIOS updates seem to fix minor issues such as keyboards and mice, but flash drives and external SSDs/HDDs still cause problems as well as USB audio. As soon as I connect external storage, my entire Windows Explorer crashes. I also experienced poor Wi-Fi using a PCI card, mainly due to packet loss even with strong signal strength and fast download speeds. Switching to a MOCA setup helped—where internet goes through coax cables and is converted back to Ethernet. Since then, my home connection has been much more stable. If you use a Wi-Fi PCI card, you might see fewer disconnections but could still face packet loss.

I refreshed the BIOS and it appears to have resolved the issue; the adapter now functions properly for several days. I also verified my external HDD in various USB ports, and everything worked well. The BIOS I had was around two years old, possibly a beta release, but I hesitated to update due to past problems and the risk of damaging my motherboard—though I managed to fix it eventually.
