Device continues restarting once it boots into the operating system (TrueNAS)
I recently set up a personal NAS with TrueNAS Scale. It functioned properly for a short time before yesterday it would repeatedly restart when loading TrueNAS. At first I assumed the boot SSD was faulty, but switching to a different SSD for a fresh install caused similar problems after trying to install TrueNAS directly. Debugging so far involved removing all drives and testing with just the boot SSD – still experiencing the same issue. I then used a laptop with the boot SSD, which loaded perfectly. I tried a new SSD to install TrueNAS, but it also triggered reboots when selecting the install option. After that, I considered the power supply; since I can access BIOS without issues and voltages seem normal, it doesn’t appear to be the hardware problem. This leads me to think the issue might be related to RAM or the CPU. I’m weighing whether to replace the RAM or test it further. I don’t suspect the motherboard because I can enter BIOS without trouble, though that’s not certain.
Specs:
- ASRock B550m Pro 4
- BIOS version P2.90
- AMD Ryzen 5600X
- Kingston 32GB ECC RAM
- Seasonic Focus-PX 750 PSU
- Sandisk 240GB SATA SSD
- Another SSD: Kingston A400 240GB Fractal Node 804 case
- 3W Red Plus HDD
Sorry to hear that. I attempted a boot without the GPU, thinking it would save power, but the system restarted. I considered purchasing one from Amazon to test if it was the power supply issue.
