I worked with a computer that wasn't recognizing USB devices correctly. Specifically, it failed to detect his iPhone even in the device manager. As a result, iTunes couldn't find it, preventing him from using his phone. He tried his iPod, which appeared in the device manager but still wasn't detected by iTunes. The problem began after he downloaded music from The Pirate Bay, which I warned against. I attempted to update the USB 3 driver, but received an error stating the driver couldn't be installed. I also tried restoring Windows about two weeks prior, when it functioned properly, but that didn't help. I suggested reinstalling iTunes to check if the iPod would appear, but it didn't resolve the phone issue. He hasn't responded yet. The phone worked on my notebook, so it seems the issue lies with his notebook. He's using a Windows 8.1 Toshiba Satellite C855-S5306.

Ensure the Windows DVD is placed in the tray. Launch a command prompt and execute sfc.exe /scannow. Wait for completion without closing the prompt. It will display: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Details are included in the CBS.Log %WinDir% \Logs\CBS\CBS.log."

You're using Windows 7, not Windows 8.

It seems the issue persists even after reinstalling iTunes. Have you tried any troubleshooting steps or updates?

Located a simple Windows 8 ISO file and... Hmm, the notice didn't confirm that Windows Resource Protection fixed damaged files. Instead it stated "Windows Resource Protection did not detect any integrity issues." What should I do next?
