Device connection issue reported. Audio output not detected.
Hi everyone,
I haven’t been around much lately, having stepped away from the computer world for a while. Now I’m slowly getting back in. The issue is with my nephew’s new laptop—a Gigabyte G6 Series Intel Core i7 GeForce 4050 running Windows 11 Home 64 bit.
The audio is muted and it seems the connection has been lost or broken. He hasn’t had any speakers plugged in, but yesterday’s internal speakers worked fine. He turned it off last night and it came back on while updating at night. He fell asleep and woke up during the update. During one of his classes, he thinks he muted the machine, which might have triggered the problem.
I’ve removed the drivers, though I’m not sure if I disabled the automatic reinstall—I think I fixed it now. I’ll check again tomorrow when he finishes his classes.
I’m open to suggestions, especially since I haven’t worked much with Windows 11 yet.
Mind you, I’ve had similar issues before, but I don’t remember exactly how I resolved them.
Any help would be really appreciated from both of us.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
1. Is there an audio soft touch switch or one on the keyboard that can be used to mute? Some people forget this feature.
2. Open Services.msc, type 'Windows Audio' and check if it's active.
3. Review all settings in System > Sound, focusing on Output, Input & Advanced.
4. Check the Windows Device Manager for the sound card, ensuring it's listed and installed with the right drivers. If there are yellow exclamation marks, it may have been uninstalled—click Scan for hardware changes.
5. Does the sound function when headphones are connected?
just a few suggestions.....let us know how you go, Cheers
