Well, I regret I can't assist with modifying Morrowind—I've handled it before, though I know others might do it even better—but I’ve put in a lot of effort tweaking Skyrim. So here’s what I managed to cover. First, we should clear out the unnecessary elements that hinder smooth gameplay. Check these resources: SKSE, ENBoost, SSME, and the Unofficial Patches. These updates are crucial for stability and performance. You’ll likely find explanations on why they matter, but let's move forward. If you're aiming for top-notch visuals, the Mod Combiner is a solid choice, though it takes some time. For more advanced tweaks, Skyrim 2k offers a comprehensive set (though it’s not overly detailed). The Mod Combiner links to the best general options. If you want the highest quality textures, go with Skyrim Flora Overhaul—it's top-notch and highly praised. Ruins Clutter Improved adds a nice touch, and the Static Mesh Improvement Mod fixes many outdated models. Remeshes of several low-quality meshes are also worth checking. Realistic Water Two enhances water effects, while Enhanced Blood Textures improves skin details. The Ultimate HD Fire Effects pack is solid, and Detailed Rugs brings depth to environments. A Book of Silence adds armor and weapon customization, Retex offers armor and weapon overhauls, and Skyrim Realistic Texture Overhaul Series gives a thorough visual refresh. Audio mods like Skyrim Audio Overhaul and Vivid Landscapes significantly boost immersion. If you need more, I can continue, but these resources will get you close to the best look possible.

Skyrim requires certain additions to function properly. Tools: Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) offers more than just utility—it enhances memory management as well. LOOT automatically organizes your items correctly; wrong order may lead to game issues and crashes at launch. ENB presets can be found on Nexusmods URLs, which help with VRAM usage. I personally use Realvision, though it demands specific mods. Hodilton’s YouTube content highlights the game’s stunning visuals. A Mod Manager simplifies installation and removal. I mainly consider Nexus Mod Manager or Mod Organizer; the latter provides more control. Mods like uGridsToLoad let you tweak settings without losing saves. Unofficial patches address numerous bugs—check changelogs for details. SkyUI improves inventory management and adds a menu system for other mods. Dialogue controls can be refined, and message boxes become more user-friendly with better keyboard handling. For aesthetics, many popular textures are already discussed; my favorite is Skyrim Mod Combiner, which merges numerous mods into one installable package.

Also check for crashes or endless loading screens by downloading the memory block log and verifying if the first block exceeds 256 MB. If it does, the game may crash but a memory patch is available. Gopher has a helpful video on this topic. I suggest watching its modding tutorial—it was where I began. A key mod to install is Frostfall, which greatly enhances immersion.

Remember that the memory patch was added to SKSE version 1.7.0. The latest stable release is 1.7.1. - thanks to sheson: updated some initial pool settings [Memory] DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB= <default heap size in MB, standard is 512> ScrapHeapSizeMB= <scrap heap size in MB, standard is 256> Check the SKSE changelog at http://skse.silverlock.org/skse_whatsnew.txt. Accept the Gopher comment, just be ready—he moves slowly and explains a lot. And +1 to Frostfall on my must-have mod list.
