CPU cooler failed unexpectedly. I wasn’t aware of it. Windows doesn’t show overheating warnings! It stopped working about a week ago. The last time the BIOS loaded properly on the motherboard. Turning the PC on results in endless resets—no display, no codes on the screen, just rapid on/off cycles. Some say the motherboard is the issue; others point to the CPU. I still have an LGA 1151 board nearby to check. This was my first computer built in 2016, and it’s really important to me.
Do you have a functioning CPU cooler installed? I recommend replacing the CMOS battery first. Please share your full PC specifications. I’m not concerned about a dead CPU, but it’s good to know what you’re working with. A simple test—running the board without a CPU—can confirm if there’s an issue.
If the POST code isn't showing anything and you're confident all connections (RAM, PSU, GPU, etc.) are properly connected, it might mean the motherboard is dead. If the CPU were the issue, you'd typically see codes like 00, 0D, or similar to indicate it's halting. There isn't a clear method to determine this without knowing other functional components.
I don't have a functioning cooler at the moment. I haven't started using it since I replaced the old one. I thought about sharing everything here... u.u Intel i7-6700k (reseat didn't help), Gigabyte Z170X Gaming, 5GB GTX 1080 (removal didn't make a difference), 32GB DDR4 2166 (8GB x 4), PNY ANARCHY (tried reseating them). Nothing is posting. Just press power, turn it on, but it shows nothing and shuts off right away.
