It looks like you're considering swapping your 3700x for a B550 to a new setup with an ASUS Apex Z490 and a 11700k. It depends on your needs—this combo could work well if you prioritize performance and cooling, but check compatibility and budget.

These components are reasonably priced. A 12700K and Z690 offer better value, likely only slightly more costly. A 12600K should also support a 3080 Ti fine.

B550 supports resolutions up to 5800x or 5900x and performs well as well.

I need to be honest, I'm thinking about returning to Intel. AMD is complicating things.

Additional charges range from 100 to 150 dollars per item. The selection options are limited, and I don’t want any MBs that interest me.

This downgrade doesn’t seem necessary. There’s still another upgrade available on the AM4 platform, and you can now get a 5900x for a 400. If you’re planning to upgrade, wait until DDR5 becomes available at competitive prices. It also depends on the resolution—if you’re using 1080p, consider upgrading your monitor to 1440p, which usually doesn’t cause CPU issues. For a 3700x display, just switch to a higher resolution monitor; this can sometimes affect CPU performance slightly.

You were convinced. I'll receive only the 5800x now. Updates coming later.
