You can follow this path: modem → 8...48 → 1 gbps RJ45 switch, connecting one port to each room in your home. The plan I proposed was similar to this.

You need to purchase a range of 8 to 48 port Ethernet switches or routers, along with a corresponding 8 to 48 port fiber switch that includes an Ethernet port for connecting to the main switch.

If you're beginning fresh, I'd begin with Cat6a wiring. It's significantly superior to the poor cat6 standard. From a hardware standpoint, it really depends on your budget, but using Cat6a puts you on the right track.
