I was thrilled to finish the upgrade. During installation, I thought about reapplying thermal paste since the system is nearly ten years old. While removing the original AMD cooler, the CPU also popped up. The retention arm remained down. After testing various power supplies and GPUs, I removed the motherboard from its case and tried it in a test box. Throughout this process, the standby light lit up indicating power was present. Regardless of the front panel connectors or pin issues, it failed to boot at all. I’m assuming the problem lies with the CPU or motherboard. I hoped the error lights would provide more clues. Any suggestions would be very helpful before I consider sending it to a repair shop or worrying about replacing the CPU and board.
No bent pins were found. I realized that placing my CPU back into the socket required some support while closing the arm, otherwise it would remain on top when the arm was pushed down. I gently used a small screwdriver to pull the thermal paste away from the CPU and then it separated from the cooler with a bit of effort.
Do you know which method is more effective? Twisting off helps avoid sharp tools and prevents the CPU from dropping. Verified that all pins are present. When the arm is open, the CPU should glide smoothly in without needing to be held. Holding it tightly can misalign it and push it incorrectly. Ensure the corner arrow on the CPU matches the socket's corner.
@Cyberat suggests a different approach. I'll try that next time. I didn't see any bent pins, so I checked with a magnifying glass. Even when positioning the triangles, it looked like only half of the CPU was engaging. It seemed to be grabbing only from the front. If I didn't apply gentle pressure while closing the CPU, it would just sit on top instead of being properly secured. (I know this isn't perfect.)

I adjusted the CPU a tenth of a time and it finally functioned! A fresh power supply and graphics card were installed. Earlier, when the CPU was placed improperly, the indicators remained silent.
