TL;DR: Tested ping from 92.223.86.86 is around 170-200 ms, which is higher than my friend's 9 ms under the same ISP. This suggests the problem might lie with my ISP or network setup, not the game server itself. The lower ping at my friend's location points to an issue on my end. I need to inform my ISP about this inconsistency. Ping tests from my phone and laptop show similar results, but the VPN usage changes the path, possibly introducing latency.

I don't have access to your ISP's specific technology details. Could you provide more information or clarify your question?

It appears to be fiber optic cabling, a very slim wire (yellow with green connectors) that extends from the wall into the router.

It seems you're in Singapore with an IP linked to Luxembourg. Likely, if your friend is displaying the IP locally, it's being routed through regional servers and your ISP, causing it to appear distant. From the UK, it also shows up as Luxembourg.

It seems the ".lu" domain is linked to a hosting provider based in LU, yet their servers are distributed worldwide. Likely, the IP address appears in Singapore, but that doesn't match the hosting location.

Included a fresh traceroute using a wired link, along with an additional wireless connection for comparison. The wired route maintains a 170 ms latency to the target. Compared to WiFi, the cabled path shows significantly less packet loss (as shown in the PL% columns and red bars). The earlier WiFi measurement and the latest one indicate a much lower loss for Hop 6 on the wired connection.

The hosting service has a traceroute utility available. Using the specified region and IP, we observed a latency of around 180ms when reaching the game server. Below are the findings (an unusual event occurs between hops 3-5): hop 5 appears to be in Belgium. The trace shows a route ending at gcore.lu with several intermediate steps.

@Pontus Hultkrantz a short-term cable to avoid WiFi problems might be "too expensive" or "too complicated" for testing. A loan of the cable could suffice for a few hours of testing.

I performed a test with cable and added plots to the original post. What I observed is that the ping to the destination remains unchanged, while the package loss significantly decreased.
