It has about half of the i7-4770 non-K performance, but it's locked for multiplayer. You might want a regular desktop i7 instead—it’s faster, even from the first generation, and still overclockable.

Certainly 10% in IPC remains quite reasonable... it seems the first-gen i7 still performs better.

The only indication of someone doing this comes from power usage considerations. 850RMB appears reasonable, but it hasn't been a long time since I looked into the Chinese used parts market. Are you certain there aren't better options available on platforms like Taobao or Tianmao? Or is this simply about being able to act?
